Slowly Turning Into Driftwood
Inspired by The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. This mixed media painting is about a great sadness and a deep love for the ocean. A weathered Cuban fishermen persevered through singleminded obsession and ultimate heartbreak. Even driftwood never really dies. It’s no longer living but it goes on, a part of everything. Never truly defeated. The old man is slowly turning into the ocean he is so obsessed with.
